We’ve had the equinox, so that can mean only one thing, spring has officially sprung. We are now in for more hours of light than dark - let the good times roll. If like many people you’ve already started planning your spring look then you may well have noticed something a little different this season.

On fashion websites everywhere a new page has been created – for hair accessories. That’s because this year there is a lot to be said for your head. With sunny times on the horizon, give yourself a heads-up on how to shine even more this spring.

If you fancy a new hairdo for the season, a few styles are set to be popular. Firstly, straight is back. If you and your straighteners haven’t spent much time together recently, then warm up those GHDs now. If straight doesn’t suit you though don’t worry, there is more. Like the top-knot, the up-do that makes any day a good hair day. To achieve the perfect imperfect look, tie your hair into a ponytail before twisting into a bun so there are some messy ends on show.

Also coming to a salon near you is the blunt bob. More precise than last season’s boyfriend bob, this style has a blunter finish and best of all can be cut to flatter any face shape by adjusting the length. It’s also great at thickening thin hair. Finally for those of you who like to go further, forget blonde or brunette - this season’s shade is lilac. Pretty.

Choosing your new cut is only the start though because this spring it’s about the accessories as well. Officially no longer just for school, hair accessories have made it into the grown-up world and they look good.

Pins, slides and bows of all shapes and shades are now ready and waiting for you to be creative. For bold bling try diamante-style worded slides, or for more low-key chic pop in some pearl-tipped pins.

Bands are also back. Fashion house Prada showed puffy Alice bands on the catwalk this season and the accessory hasn’t looked back. Just ask the Duchess of Cambridge. Brilliantly, bands do equally well with elegant or casual looks so your whole spring could be sorted. Oh and they also hide bad hair days.

It’s been said that your bum always looks small when you dress your hair, because no-one goes below your neck. The downside to this is that all the focus will be firmly on your face. And your face might have a few more fine lines and wrinkles than you’d like. For a fresh-faced look to match your fresh spring style, Botox could well be the answer. Smoothing frown lines and crow’s feet, the treatment is simple, effective and incredibly popular. It is also discreet, leaving you looking well rather than like you’ve had work. In short, it is a spring winner.

If you want to add some extra shine to your look, then Botox is one of the treatments I now offer at the Fordingbridge Beauty Salon, contact me by phoning 01722 632633 or 07493 520517 for more details. Give your look the heads-up and enjoy the new spring season.
