The wait is finally over, Downton Abbey is back! Fans everywhere are eager to catch-up with the Earl of Grantham, Lady Mary, Carson, Mr. Bates and the indomitable Dowager Countess.

There is huge anticipation as we wait to view the splendid Downton estate, discover what happens during the royal visit and even see how much Tiaa the dog has grown. Not forgetting of course to marvel at all the beautiful costumes along the way.

But while many of us may dream of dressing for an evening at Downton, this season’s designs are far more eclectic than that. With so much on-trend, how can we look great as we head back to the Abbey and into autumn?

The autumn-winter collections this year are indeed pretty varied and while the 1920s may not be officially in, parts of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s definitely are. Though thankfully not all in the same outfit. Set to hit the high street are big bags, little bags and extravagant bucket hats to keep your head warm. And feathers.

The design accessory of choice, feathers in every size and colour are going to be appearing everywhere. The Dowager’s hat would be proud.

Colour-wise, yellow, purple and beige are the season’s staples along with highlighter heels if you fancy brightening your life up even more. For a different sort of statement piece, both cord and cosy capes will help you hygge in style.

One trend in particular set to continue its comeback is the square neckline. Probably more at home in Wolf Hall than Downton Abbey, this Renaissance-inspired look is both flattering and elegant – perfect for work or party wear. However, as much as square necklines are elegant, they also expose. As do asymmetrical lines, the other seasonal neck cut. If your décolletage doesn’t leave you feeling great, then this is not good news.

There’s no need to spend your autumn avoiding half of the high street though, a simple treatment could see you ready to wear any neckline with confidence.

Fine lines and wrinkles revealed by unfriendly necklines are both annoying and ageing, but their stay isn’t inevitable. To get your skin looking smoother, healthier and younger again, try radio frequency. This treatment uses concentrated energy to penetrate skin layers, tightening and stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. To further improve skin tone, vacuum rollering is an excellent option to maximise impact.

Another style set to return is the power shoulder. Yes straight from Dallas, but with a tasteful modern day makeover, the wide shoulder-slim waist silhouette is here. This retro look may be a high street favourite, but it can be pretty unforgiving if your waist doesn’t cinch where it should. If you’d like to lose some inches, 3D Lipo body contouring will help you to feel more confident and step out in great shape.

Whatever designs you want to wear this season, don’t let yourself be held back by your skin or your shape.
